Santa Sofia

Santa Sofia is one of Italy’s historic wineries, located in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, in Pedemonte. Wine production here dates back to 1811, while the winery itself is housed in the magnificent Villa Sarego, designed in 1560 by Renaissance master Andrea Palladio, now recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Since the 1960s, Santa Sofia has been managed by the Begnoni family, who pursue a “strategy of excellence” rooted in tradition, precision, and sustainability. The winery focuses on classic Veronese grape varieties such as Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, producing wines of structure, balance, and unmistakable regional character.
Santa Sofia is particularly renowned for its Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso, and Recioto, alongside refined white wines including Soave and Lugana. With over 50 hectares of vineyards and exports to more than 75 countries, Santa Sofia stands as a benchmark producer in Valpolicella — where history, architecture, and winemaking excellence meet.
